Egyptian Army and Thugs clear Tahrir Square with force

Today protesters in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt, were attacked by the army and men in civillian clothes, who many say are paid thugs. At least fifteen were injured (probably many more). The army and the thugs then destroyed the tent city that the protesters had been staying in.

As an Egyptian journalist said to me today, telling people the army isn’t on their side is like telling children there’s no santa. I hope this is the equivalent of seeing Dad put the presents under the tree.
